Lafayette Broker’s Tour Highlight 4-3-12

Every Tuesday is Broker Tour day in Central Contra Costa County.  Today’s highlight is a home in the desirable Burton Valley neighborhood in the town of Lafayette, CA.  BurtonValley is located about 2 to 3 miles south of Highway 24.

Burton Valley is the epitome of country life style with its parks, bike/walking trails, the Rancho Swim and Tennis Club and an Equestrian Facility.  The typical house in Burton Valley is mid-century ranch home, usually 3 to 4 bedrooms, 2 baths and approx. 2,000sf.

My highlight for last Tuesday is NOT your typical Burton Valley rancher.  This 4 bedroom 2.5 bath, (approx.) 2,064sf home sits on a (just under) ¼ acre lot.  Let’s start with its location; at the end of a street is a Llama farm (not many, just a few).  How cute is that!  As you approach the home, the first thing you see is a honey colored hardwood door with leaded trim panes of glass.  Then you open the door to slate entryway.  To your left through a curved arch is a front parlor or formal dining room (which used to be the kitchen). The adjacent living room has beautifully re-finished hardwood floors and recessed lighting.  There are sliding glass doors from the living room to a covered patio where the roofline of the home has been extended to provide a vaulted patio roof made of tongue and groove natural wood beams. Truly an awesome outdoor living space.

The KITCHEN is a true delight.  It has been moved from its original location in the front of the home facing the street to the rear of the home resulting in a HUGE (eat-in) Country Kitchen.  The door leading to the side yard  is more like a piece of art with its leaded and colored glass panes.  The stainless appliances and slab granite counters are accented with a complementary tumbled tile with glass mosaic backsplash.

This room tool leads to the picturesque backyard of decks, lawn and the hot tub.

The Master Bedroom suite is spacious and (of course) has patio doors leading to the backyard and nearby hot tub.  The spacious walk-in closet nicely complements the two additional wall closets.  The Master Bath vanity  (made of some kind of cherry stained wood) with double sinks separate by a cabinet with opaque glass doors are another piece of art.

The Backyard is a serene setting; two Trex decks separated by a lawn area bordered with paver tiles and the covered patio for evening meals or just relaxing with a glass of wine.  The left side deck is built around a Weeping Willow Tree.  The opposite deck houses the Hot Tub for TRUE RELAXATION.  Just to complete this picture, your closest neighbor seems about a “football field” away.
