Do You Know The Value Of Your Home?

Home Value

Since your house is probably your most expensive investment, you probably want to know how much it is worth. While you may think that finding the value of your home is very simple, it can actually require a little more work. Knowing the value of your home can be a big benefit when you decide it is time to sell. The four most common ways to figure out the value of your home include:

  • AVM estimates – an AVM estimate, or automatic valuation model estimates uses algorithms that are used to estimate the value of your home. These algorithms use a variety of data, including local prices, sales, and inventories.
  • CMA – a CMA, or competitive market analysis, is most likely used by your real estate agent. Agents will base the value of your home off of any improvements that you have made, including any hyper-local changes that can possibly affect the value of your home.
  • Appraisals – when buying a home, a home appraisal is almost always required. Appraisers will use information that is gathered by an on-site inspection, along with other comparable sales in the area to determine the value of your home. Appraisers also base the value of your home on the local market trends.
  • DIY – you also have the option to determine the value of your home on your own. There are many different online sources that will give you valuable data that can be used to determine the value of your home. You should also consider sales and listing activity in your neighborhood when figuring out the value.
