Dublin Goes Green for St. Patrick’s Day Weekend

They say everyone’s a little Irish on St. Patrick’s Day. You’ll have to hold on to your inner Irish a little longer in Dublin, CA, where the St. Patrick’s celebration goes on all weekend. The festivities begin with the annual Green and White Gala at 6 p.m. on Friday, March 16. The event features dignitaries from Dublin, Ireland, along with music, dancing and dinner. On Saturday and Sunday, March 15 and 16, visit the St. Patrick’s Festival at the Dublin Civic Center, 100 Civic Plaza. Both days feature Irish music and dancing, food crafts, rides and kids entertainment.

Of course, the highlight of any St. Patrick’s Day has to be the parade. Dublin’s kicks off Saturday 9:30, at Amador Plaza, then proceeds down Dublin Blvd. and Village Parkway. More than 80 floats, marching bands and civic groups are expected to participate.

Make sure you have a full tummy for the parade by stopping in at Dublin Fire Station 16, 7494 Donahue Drive. Alameda County Firefighter Local 55  sponsors a pancake breakfast from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m., Fire Station #`16, Dublin’s luck.

The weekend’s events cap off with the Shamrock 5K Fun Run and Walk, on Sunday, March 16 at 8:30 a.m. at the Civic Plaza.
