Why Winter Might Be The Best Time to Buy

There are many common misconceptions about buying a home in the winter.   However, buying a home in the winter has many advantages that could end up helping you get the deal of a lifetime.

1.  Winter home sales are usually slow.  Prices tend to drop between the months of November to January and they hit rock bottom in December.

2.  Due to the lack of buyers during the winter, sellers generally offer more concessions.

3.  Winter sellers are usually more motivated to sell, more buyer-friendly and more willing to negotiate.

4.  Fewer home sales during this time frame mean better deals for buyers.  Due to the lack of home sales, mortgage companies will be competing for your business.  Additionally, the mortgage process will go faster.

5.  You’ll be able to see the home in a different light.  Instead of seeing a home at its best with lush green landscaping and everything in bloom, you’ll get to see what the home will look like at its worst when everything is bare, gray and gloomy.  Additionally, you’ll be able to see if the home has any dark areas because it won’t have a bright sunny day to lighten it up.
